Your data lives on your own devices. WholeBudget keeps everything in your own Application Support folder on the Mac, and your iPhone syncs with it over your home network, encrypted. There is no account and no WholeBudget server to breach. Receipts are read by the AI provider whose key you add, and this website is a download page, not a copy of the app.
Drop in a CSV, XLS/XLSX or PDF statement from any bank or card. Rows you have already imported are recognised and merged instead of duplicated, and the preview tells you exactly what the Import button is about to do before it does it.
A multi-stage classifier proposes a category, subcategory and vendor for every row. Correct it once and it remembers — and every decision it makes is logged with the rule and confidence behind it, so you can watch it be right before you trust it.
Photograph or drop in a receipt and its line items, tax and total are extracted, then matched against the transaction that paid for it. Receipts whose line items do not add up are surfaced rather than silently accepted.
Money moving between your own accounts is not spending. Multi-leg transfers, credit-card payments and vendor refunds are detected and paired, so your totals reflect what you actually spent.
Recurring bills, installment-based annual obligations, salary forecasting and a balance timeline — with the arithmetic shown, so a projection never quietly contradicts the number next to it.
